Follow Your Dreams
by Jack Graham

Dear Reader,

If you want to follow your dreams, then practice hard. Know that you can do it, and if not, than it feels good to know you tried.

If you feel that you have no chance of making your dreams come true, you’re not trying. There are great chances all around you. So, go out and look for an inviting opportunity.

Someone once told me, “You are your own worst critic,” and it’s true!

If you tried and failed, then practice more, and try again and again and again until you’ve achieved your life long goal in life. Just believe in yourself and you can be just like me – in a drama program for middle school, and in a show called “Mulan!.” If I can be this happy, so can you. Just follow your dreams.

Now, hop out of your chair and find an opportunity with your name written all over it!

Good luck!

Weight Loss
by Brooke Seiden

Once upon a time there was a very overweight family. With a dad, sister, mother and brother. They got a new voice activated scale that tells you your weight. First the sister got on. "259!" Then the brother. "459!" Then the mom. "659!" Last, the dad. "One at a time!" The scale said this because the whole family was getting on and off the scale at the same time!

If you're between the ages of 8 and 13 and weigh between 60 and 100 pounds that's normal. But if you're between the ages of 8 and 13 and weigh 120 or over, that's irregular. It's natural to weigh the normal amount so don't be negative. If you weigh the irregular weight and are insecure about it that's sad. My motto, the plumper, the prettier.

No offense. I, Brooke had bad eating habits. Until I got a (healthy) eating chart. For every time you reach a goal, you add a sticker. There are 6 categories -- grains, veggies, fruits, milk and dairy, meat and beans, exercise and other. It's reusable! Plus I joined the local basketball league for girls ages 9-10. And I play outside with my neighbors for at least an hour a day.

I lost 7 pounds in 6 days! True story! Did you know that half of America's children are overweight? Half of America at that! A healthy snack I love is chopped up cheddar cheese wrapped inside low salt/sodium turkey breast with a glass of milk. So remember be happy and healthy! Live your life to the fullest and be positive!
